Our Programs




The Merck Africa Oncology Fellowship Program, a key initiative of Merck Cancer Access Program, provides One-year fellowship program at Tata Memorial Centre, India, One and half-years Oncology Fellowship programs at University of Malaya, Malaysia, Two years Oncology Fellowship Program at University of Nairobi, Kenya and Two years Master degree in Medical Oncology at Cairo University, Egypt. This program is part of Merck’s commitment to improve patient’s access to care all over the world. 
 
The Scarcity of trained healthcare personnel capable of tackling prevention, early diagnosis and management of cancer is a bigger challenge. Merck Africa Oncology Fellowship Program was launched in 2016, with the aim to increase the limited number of qualified Oncologists and hence improve access to cancer care in Africa and developing countries.

Eligibility Criteria - Merck Oncology Fellowship Program

 
Cairo University, Egypt
1. Master’s in Medical Oncology
Duration2 years
Eligibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in medicine and Surgery Certificate from any foreign University out of the Arab Republic of Egypt, it must be equalized by the Supreme Council of Universities in Cairo
University of Nairobi, Kenya
2. Fellowship program on Medical Oncology
Duration2 years
Eligibility
  • M.MED in Internal medicine having some experience in Oncology care
University of Malaya, Malaysia
1. Fellowship in Medical Oncology
Duration1.5 years
Eligibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in medicine and Surgery, Post Graduate preferred
  • 1-2-year experience in Oncology care with minimum 3 months in Medical oncology preferable
  • Recommendation from Ministry of Health
TATA Memorial Centre, Mumbai, India
1. Fellowship in Surgical Oncology
Duration1 year
Eligibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in medicine and Surgery
  • 1-year experience in Oncology care with minimum 3 months in surgical oncology preferable
  • Recommendation from Ministry of Health  
2. Fellowship in Adult Medical Oncology
Duration1 year
Eligibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in medicine and Surgery
  • Minimum 1- year experience in Oncology care
  • Recommendation from Ministry of Health  
3. Fellowship in Paediatric Medical Oncology
Duration 1 year
Eligibility
4. Fellowship in Radiation Oncology
Duration 6 months
Eligibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in medicine and Surgery
  • 1-2-year experience in Radiation Oncology
  • Recommendation from Ministry of Health  
5. Pathology Oncology
Duration6 months
Eligibility
  • MD in Pathology or Any equivalent foreign qualification or Pathologist working in Cancer Hospital in Africa
  • Minimum 1-2-year experience
  • Recommendation from Ministry of Health
6. Palliative Care
Duration 6 months
Eligibility
  • Any Graduate (MBBS) with Interest in Palliative Care
  • Recommendation from Ministry of Health  
7. Radiation Technician
Duration6 months
Eligibility
  • Any Certified Radiation Technologist of African Country
  • Recommendation from Ministry of Health  
8. Oncology Nursing
Duration6 months
Eligibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Experience in Oncology care
  • Recommendation from Ministry of Health  
9. Researcher in Oncology
Duration6 months
Eligibility
  • PhD in Life Sciences (Oncology related or doing PhD in this subject)
