Our Programs




The Merck Africa Oncology Fellowship Program, a key initiative of Merck Cancer Access Program, provides one-year, two-year and three-year oncology fellowship programs and Master degree in medical oncology at Tata Memorial Centre, India, University of Nairobi, Kenya and Alexandria University, Egypt, respectively. This program is part of Merck’s commitment to improve patient’s access to care all over the world. 
 
The Scarcity of trained healthcare personnel capable of tackling prevention, early diagnosis and management of cancer is a bigger challenge. Merck Africa Oncology Fellowship Program was launched in 2016, with the aim to increase the limited number of qualified Oncologists and hence improve access to cancer care in Africa and developing countries.

Alexandria University, Egypt
1. Master Degree – Medical Oncology
Duration3 years
Eligibility
  • Bachelor degree in Medicine and Surgery Certificate from any foreign University out of the Arab Republic of Egypt, it must be equalized by the Supreme Council of Universities in Cairo
  
University of Nairobi, Kenya
1. Fellowship program on Medical Oncology
Duration2 years
Eligibility
  • M.MED in Internal medicine having some experience in Oncology care
  
TATA Memorial Centre, Mumbai, India
1. Fellowship in Surgical Oncology
Duration1 year
Eligibility
  • Bachelor degree in Medicine and Surgery
  • 1 year experience in Oncology care with minimum 3 months in surgical oncology preferable
  • Recommendation from ministry of health and /or University
2. Fellowship in Adult Medical Oncology
Duration1 year
Eligibility
  • Bachelor degree in Medicine and Surgery
  • Minimum I  year experience in Oncology care
  • Recommendation from MOH and /or University
3. Fellowship in Pediatric Medical Oncology
Duration1 year
Eligibility
  • Bachelor degree in Medicine and Surgery
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Paediatric Oncology care
  • Recommendation from MOH and /or University
4. Fellowship in Radiation Oncologist
Duration6 months
Eligibility
  • Bachelor degree in Medicine and Surgery
  • 1-2 year experience in Radiation Oncology
  • Recommendation from MOH and /or  University
5. Pathology
Duration6 months
Eligibility
  • MD in Pathology or Any equivalent foreign qualification or Pathologist working in Cancer Hospital in Africa
  • Minimum 1-2 year experience
  • Recommendation from  MOH and/ or University
6. Palliative Care
Duration6 months
Eligibility
  • Any Graduate (MBBS) with Interest in Palliative Care
  • Recommendation from MOH and/ or university
7. Radiation Technician
Duration6 months
Eligibility
  • Any Certified Radiation Technologist of African Country
  • Recommendation from University/Institute
8. Oncology Nursing
Duration6 months
Eligibility
  • Bachelor degree in Nursing
  • Experience in Oncology care
  • Recommendation from University/Institute
9. Researcher in Oncology
Duration6 months
Eligibility
  • PhD in Life Sciences (Oncology related or doing PhD in this subject)
